At the FIFA World Cup 2022, which will take place in Qatar across eight different stadiums between the 20th of November and the 18th of December, some of the top football players in the world will compete.
At the Qatar FIFA World Cup 2022, the 32 teams competing will come from five different confederations. At stake is the most prestigious award in sport. The teams are arranged in eight groups of four (A to H), and only the top two teams from each group will go on to the knockout phases.
As many as 64 matches are scheduled to take place over the period of 29 days, making this edition of the FIFA World Cup the shortest tournament ever to include 32 teams.
During the group stages, every day will consist of four matches with the exception of the first two days of the competition. Before moving on to the knockout phases, which start with the round of 16 (pre-quarterfinals) on December 3, all 32 teams will compete in the group stages, which consist of three matches each.
Hosts On November 20, Qatar will play Ecuador in the first match of the 2022 World Cup at the Al Bayt Stadium in Al Khor. The match will be in Group A. On November 23, at 12:30 AM IST, the defending champions France will begin their campaign against Australia. On November 25, at 12:30 AM IST, the five-time winners Brazil will begin their campaign against Serbia. Qatar is now 2 hours and 30 minutes behind India.
The matches for the semi-finals will take place on December 14 and 15, both at 12:30 AM IST, while the championship game will be held at the Lusail Iconic Stadium on December 18.
This will be the first time that a nation from the Middle East has hosted the FIFA World Cup, and it will also be the first time that the tournament has been staged outside of the normal June-July window that has been designated for the quadrennial showcase.
