A Look Ahead to the Match Between the USA and the Netherlands

However, that win came in the 2015 match, which was the most recent of its kind. But in terms of their performance as of late, the United States have been going undefeated through their group stage matches against Wales, England, and Iran without allowing any open-play goals to be scored against them. This has led to a more upbeat atmosphere in the country. This is at least in part due to the outstanding performance in the midfield by Tyler Adams, Yunus Musah, and Weston McKennie, who are leading a squad that has completed 75.1% of its passes heading into the final third of the field. As we move into the final game in the group stage on Friday, this places us seventh overall in the competition, after Spain, Argentina, Portugal, France, Germany, and Brazil.

Memphis Depay was the forward that received the most of the attention leading up to the competition; however, the Netherlands now have a new star. Gakpo scored the first goal for Oranje in all three of their group games, with David Villa in 2010 becoming the last player at a single World Cup to score the first goal in four different matches.

Despite suffering an injury in the last game against Iran, Pulisic anticipates being able to play in this one, and his comeback will be eagerly anticipated. The winger has been directly involved in both of the United States’ goals throughout the competition, and he has scored twice as many goals (22) for the United States men’s national team than any other player on Gregg Berhalter’s side.
