The matches for the Asia Cup qualifiers 2022 were held at the Al Amerat Cricket Ground in Muscat, Oman Cricket, from the 20th to the 24th of August. Four teams competed in the Asia Cup qualifiers 2022 with the hopes of taking first place and earning a berth in the Asia Cup 2022, which was held from August 27 to September 11.
These qualifications are being played in a round-robin fashion, and the participants are the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Singapore, and Hong Kong. Each team competed in three games total, and the team that finished in first place will advance to Group A of the Asia Cup 2022. After a much-needed victory against United Arab Emirates, Hong Kong was able to coast their way into the competition and complete the group stage. They will compete in the tournament with India and Pakistan in Group A, while Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan will make up Group B.

20th of August: Hong Kong kicks out their campaign with a victory decided by a narrow margin
The Asia Cup qualifiers 2022 got off to a strong start with Hong Kong claiming victory against Singapore by a score of 8 runs in the opening match. In their first innings, Hong Kong scored 148 runs while losing nine wickets.
In their response, Singapore was only able to score 140 runs and lost seven wickets in the process. The three wickets that Ehsan Khan took while only allowing 20 runs earned him the title of player of the match.
On the 21st of August, Kuwait beats UAE in a nail-biting last-ball thriller by the score of 1 wicket.
After scoring 9 runs in the last over, with one ball left to play, the Kuwait Cricket team surpassed all expectations and won the match. Kuwait choose to bowl first after they were victorious in the coin toss. The United Arab Emirates finished their first innings with a score of 173/5 after 20 overs.
Despite the relatively large score, the Kuwait Cricket team was able to complete their innings in 19.5 overs. Edson Silva of Kuwait was named man of the match because to his lightning-fast batting performance, during which he scored 25 runs in only 14 balls.
The United Arab Emirates defeated Singapore by 47 runs on the 22nd of August
The door to the Group stage of the Asia Cup 2022 was open for Singapore’s last attempt to go through it. Despite this, UAE has other things in mind. After winning the coin toss, Singapore made the decision to bowl first. In their first innings, the UAE scored 160 runs in 20 overs, losing eight wickets in the process. Muhammad Waseem contributed 50 runs to this total.
The second innings was more exciting than the first because Aritra Dutta seemed to be in better shape. Despite this, wickets began to fall, and by the 19th over, Singapore had secured victory with nine balls still to spare.
The extraordinary performance of bowler Palaniappan Meiyappan, who took three wickets while only allowing 13 runs over the course of four overs, earned him the Player of the Match title. On August 23rd, Kuwait was defeated by Hong Kong by a score of 8 wickets.
When facing the Kuwait Cricket squad, Hong Kong made the smart decision to bowl first, which set the tone for a successful start to the match. Kuwait used all of their efforts in an attempt to compete in the main competition. After winning the coin toss, Singapore made the decision to bat first. The outcome came as a surprise to many people, when Kuwait knocked their opponents out for 104 runs. Both Yasin Patel and Shiraz Khan contributed to the total of 7 wickets that were taken.
In their pursuit of 104 runs, Kuwait lost early wickets and found themselves four wickets behind with 60 runs. Sayed Monib’s blitzkrieg innings, in which he scored 32 runs, contributed to their victory, though. Due to his outstanding performance, Yasin Patel was selected as the player of the match.
At 7.30 p.m. on the 24th of August 2022, Hong Kong defeated UAE by a score of 8 wickets.
After winning the coin toss for the second competition, Hong Kong decided who would bowl first. At first, the UAE was the favorite and seemed to be in a better position. However, Hong Kong was able to bowl them out for 147 runs with three balls left in the game. Ehsan Khan of Hong Kong was responsible for four wickets and 24 runs.
Yasim Murtaza’s 58 runs (off 43 balls) and Nizakat Khan’s 39 runs (off 39 balls) enabled Hong Kong overcome UAE by 8 wickets in the second innings, which was a joy to witness. After all was said and done, the player of the match award went to Ehsan Khan of Hong Kong for his incredible performance.
